MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

"Holiday Cheer"

Holiday Wishes - Seasons Greetings Quality Professionals!

On behalf of the San Diego Section’s board I wish all ASQ members a warm and joyous Holiday season. In the holiday spirit may we remember the true meaning of the Holiday season as we celebrate with family and friends.

This is a special time of year when we should be thinking about people less fortunate than ourselves. As Quality Professionals we may be able to make a difference in the quality of someone’s life by sharing some of our gifts and talents: volunteer your time or make a donation to a local charity, write a card or letter to our brave men and women overseas, give a helping hand to a colleague who recently lost his or her job, say kind words to a co-worker, boss, in-law, or that neighbor you can’t get along with, write an article for our monthly newsletter.  Spread the Holiday Cheer!

Workshop Status

Our next workshop wont be until January due to Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  The default topic will be MSA and Gage R&R but we are working to develop other interesting topics and speakers as well.

Other Key Announcements

See you next week,

This Month's Meeting

Dec.12, 2006 "Holiday Special Topic for Spouses:  Thinking Hats" Anthony C. Griffin
Principal, http://www.teamworks1.com/

Abstract

This presentation is for anyone to enjoy.  It's based on deBono's book "Six Thinking Hats" in that the presentation will show people watch mode (Hat) of thinking, and how six hats may be applied to everyday situations.

While the six thinking hats concept is rather simple, there are a lot of complex analogies that can be investigated.  Hats can be sequenced to achieve desired results, facilitation skills are needed by Blue Hat thinking, and how the factor of time enters into use of the hats is just a few examples that may or may not be covered depending upon the audience.  This will be an interactive presentation with a few slides to keep things on a general track.
