MESSAGE FROM THE EDUCATION CHAIR

"Intra-Societal Outreach"

Section Members & Honored Eavesdroppers,

Our Vice Chair (Gregg Oliver) recently performed a little intra-societal outreach ... here's his report:

I went to the ASQ 0711 Riverside chapter for their Wednesday section meeting. They were a terrific group of people, and showed great hospitality. As one would expect, they were all active quality professionals and an outstanding collection of characters. The Riverside section is approximately 150 people and they have a regular meeting attendance of about 15.

The meeting was held at a swanky country club and the meeting room was very nice. I was greeted warmly and treated like family from the moment I arrived. It occurred to me that one of us could probably walk into any ASQ section meeting in the country and be as welcome as we are in our own home section. That thought lasted with me the whole night. I found out that someone else thought so too – there was ANOTHER visitor there that night. A young man from the Orange County section was there because the Riverside meeting was closer to his work than his home.

I have included a picture of the meeting, a picture of me with their officers, and a picture of my date for the night – a piece of cheesecake.

(Gregg is in the center)

I am sure that those who went to the ASQ Inter-Galactic HobNob in exotic Milwaukee will have more exciting stories, but I can’t imagine that they felt more of the essence of what makes the ASQ the best of all professional organizations. There aren’t any better people anywhere.

Sincerely,
Gregg Oliver
