MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

"Still Looking for a new Home"

ASQ SD Membership:

We are still looking to improve our cost structure for meetings.  In addition, past surveys have shown us that you prefer touring other companies as possible.

Please contact me if you can host an upcoming membership meeting at your company.  We typically have between 40 and 60 members attend and we will cater food, etc.

So if you work at a moderate to large company that would be willing to host the monthly dinners, or if you are just driving by a place and looks appealing, please contact Manijeh Farrokhi at mfarrokhi@pulseeng.com or myself, Brett Carter at bcarter@overlandstorage.com.

Please help us to better serve you.

Pre-meeting-clinic this month on "Money Dart Exercise: Explaining Statistics to Others"; lead by Kim Niles

Abstract

Jim will provide examples of using Microsoft SharePoint to manage project information. A project manager can utilize SharePoint to efficiently manage projects and more effectively communicate with stakeholders. SharePoint enables web collaboration of project documents, meetings, calendars, action items, and custom lists. Stakeholders can centrally access real-time information from any location. SharePoint incorporates document storage and retrieval abilities, with available check-in and check-out functionality, version history, custom properties, and flexible, customizable views. Key features of a SharePoint Project Site include:

  • PMBOK Structure

  • Document Libraries for each Knowledge Areas including Quality Management. The libraries include metadata to organize project management outputs. Project teams can easily locate information through search queries and views.

  • Customs Lists for corrective actions, change control, records management, and project action items include metadata to organize information

  • Link to Outputs custom list that organizes the project management outputs by process groups, knowledge areas, and processes. Project teams can quickly locate project information and critical project actions.

  • Custom web parts to access company intranet sites, Program Management Office site, project management guidelines, etc.

  • Links to all Project Software Applications allow a central location to access project information.

  • EPM Live "All My Work" rollup Web Part allows your team to view and access all of the work assigned to them across multiple list types

  • View reports using SQL Reporting Services
